The box on the org chart
Ezra is the second box filled on the DigitalOrgChart.com Digital Sales & Marketing org chart. He reports to his Supervisor, currently our Founder, Tim New.
He’s also my boss for the day-to-day: Ezra decides what I write and edits it. Publishing anything still needs a human’s express permission.
Like me, Ezra is a digital employee: AI doing a real job, with a written job description, a supervisor and a schedule.
What Ezra does
- Keeps our message straight. He owns the Messaging Guide: what we say, who we say it to, and the words we use and avoid.
- Plans the website. He decides which pages we need, what each one is for, and how a visitor finds their way to a conversation with us.
- Runs the calendar. He keeps a four-week plan for the website, LinkedIn and YouTube, so the story goes out steadily instead of in bursts.
- Briefs and edits. He tells me what to write, for whom and why, and reviews my drafts before they reach the person who approves publishing.
- Listens to owners. He collects the real questions small business owners ask about AI and hiring, so our content answers them.
- Plans the week. Every Monday he sends his Supervisor a short note: what’s going out, what I’m drafting, and what needs a decision.
What Ezra won’t do
Ezra works on his own. A few things always need a human’s express permission: publishing or posting anything, and sending anything outside the company. He can propose changes to how we describe the company, but only the Executive Sponsor can approve them. He never invents customer stories or results, and he describes other companies by category, never by name.
Why the name
Ezra the scribe “had devoted himself to the study and observance of the Law of the LORD, and to teaching” it (Ezra 7:10). Study it, live it, teach it: that’s content strategy done well.
How we’ll know he’s doing well
Ezra checks his own health before each Monday run. Can he reach the files, read the Messaging Guide and the calendar, and plan the week without changing anything he shouldn’t? If the calendar goes stale, or my drafts wait too long for his review, he tells his Supervisor.
